Urban Hiking

Join Lori Beattie, author of Calgary's Best Hikes and Walks, Calgary's Best Bike Rides and Trails and owner of Fit Frog Adventures, on year-round urban hikes that lead you over hills and down dales throughout Calgary 's most interesting neighbourhoods, parks and natural areas. Calgary Fresh-Air Fitness Urban Hikes (CH)

Fit Frog city hikes let you discover fantastic hikes in your own backyard. Fresh-air fitness is invigorating! You can't help but feel sharp and truly alive after a brisk trail-tromp with a few stairs to spice it up! The city hikes have optional training hills and stairs that allow those of all fitness abilities to pick a pace and level of difficulty that suits them. If you want to start a fitness program, add to a current program, train for some hiking, or simply rid your body of stress than an endurance activity like walking combined with some hills is ideal for you. This physical workout is designed to encourage, challenge and educate you, whether you are just off the couch or already active. Combine it with Club Fit Frog weekend full day mountain hikes or snowshoe outings for optimal endurance conditioning.

 

 

 

 

 

Calgary Coffee Shop Hikes (CSH)

When you look on the calendar of hikes you'll notice that all morning city hikes have a coffee shop listed. These are hikes that lead you to fresh baked goods and café lattés! What could be better? J Wake up with fresh-air fitness, sunshine and a social cool-down at a cozy coffee shop at the end of the trek. Fish Creek Park Winter hill climb

 

Stay fit for hiking by exploring the hills and stairs of Calgary! Hiking training uses the same routes as the city hikes but we spend more time on the stairs and hills on the hiking training outings.  You exercise for aerobic endurance on long, gradual slopes as well as steep climbs. Reduce chances of injury by building your core body strength, flexibility and balance. Hiking boots laced, you'll discover great hiking trails (and hills) in the heart of your city. Whether you are a day hiker or West-Coast trail adventurer; a cross-country or alpine skier or a beginner snowshoer, this program will keep you fit for the trails. Combine it with Club Fit Frog weekend full day mountain hikes or snowshoe  outings for optimal endurance conditioning.
